Men's Water Polo Faces No. 4 Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. – Caltech Men's Water Polo faced SCIAC rival University of Redlands at the Thompson Aquatic Center, where they stood firmly against the No. 4 team in Division III.

Junior Axel Haydt (Austin, Texas / Westlake) netted the first goal for Caltech. Haydt contributed to the Beavers' effort with five shots, one assist and a field block. The two teams traded shots with each other, and junior Justin Hong (Pasadena, Calif. / Pasadena) scored a goal with a couple minutes remaining in the opening quarter.

The Beavers kept their heads in the game in the second quarter. Senior Bram Schork (Villanova, Pa. / The Haverford School) scored next for Caltech, tallying his 60th goal of the season, ranking him third among the SCIAC's top goal scorers this season.

Caltech fought hard in the third quarter, scoring another a goal at the 2:34 mark by junior Eric Verheyden (Bend, Ore. / Summit). Throughout the match, Verheyden made an amazing performance with 2 shots, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 2 field blocks that summed up to his season highs. Despite the pressure placed by the Beavers, the Redlands secured the victory.

Even so, senior goalkeeper Sujit Iyer (Marietta, Ga. / Wheeler) managed 9 saves against the Bulldogs; tying his third best performance against top-10 teams this year.

Caltech Men's Water Polo will play against Cal Lutheran on November 1st, 2025 at the Kingsmen's home pool in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
