Caltech Women's Basketball went up against Texas Lutheran in Lancaster Friday night, outscoring Texas Lutheran in the second half.
The Beavers scored 16 points third-quarter points, matching Lutheran's third quarter points, and scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter, surpassing the points Lutheran scored that quarter.
Sophomore Zeynep Goktepe (Istanbul, Turkey / The MacDuffie School) led Caltech in field goals, scoring six throughout the game. Sophomore Carolyn Ruan (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) led the team in three-pointers, managing two, while Goktepe and sophomore Louise Scriven (Paraparaumu Beach, New Zealand / Paraparaumu College) each scored one 3-pointer over the course of the match.
This was also the first collegiate basketball game for junior Ellia Yamada (South Pasadena, Calif. / South Pasadena) and First-year Shyna Kashi (Bethesda, Md. / Montgomery Blair High School). Both players recently crossed over from Women's Soccer to Women's Basketball. Yamada would pull off a steal and an assist, with Kashi also managing a steal.
The Beavers will continue their season Wednesday Nov. 19th, facing off against Life Pacific in San Dimas, California.
