Caltech Men's Swim & Dive defeated Occidental, 199-86, and La Verne, 223-39, at a meet between four SCIAC teams in rainy conditions at Occidental college in Los Angeles Saturday.
First-year Brent Kong (Scotts Valley, Calif. / Scotts Valley High School) put his name in the 10th position on the Caltech top 10 progressions list in the 1000-Yard Freestyle, finishing in 10:10.48.
Senior Pierre Zeineddin (Gaithersburg, Md. / Richard Montgomery) grabbed an event win in the 200-Yard Butterfly, winning the race by over four seconds with a finals time of 1:52.28. Fellow senior Siddhartha Ojha (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) was the first-place finisher in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:51.45.
"Despite raining conditions, the team did a nice job diving, racing, and competing. We are looking forward to seeing what they can do this weekend at the Caltech Invite!" Head Coach Andy Brabson said.
Caltech returns home for the Caltech Invite Nov. 22-23. Action starts at 10:00 a.m. on both days.
