Caltech Men's Swim & Dive claimed numerous event wins in a meet hosted by Cal Lutheran University and which also included Redlands on Saturday.
"I thought the team did fairly well given the tough training block they just went through as well as the windy conditions today," Head Coach Andy Brabson said.
The Beaver men earned event wins in 10 different events including one relay, eight individual events, and two diving events.
Sophomore Aaron Dumas (San Diego, Calif. / Cathedral Catholic), Daniel Wareham (Shanghai, / China Deerfield Academy) Marcel Liu (Natick, Mass. / Phillips Academy) and Simon Hu (Clarksville, / Md. River Hill) combined for victory in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a combined time of 1:36.74.
Liu also claimed victory in the 100-Yard Backstroke (54.76) with Hu coming in second in that race with a time of 55.05. Hu won the 100-Yard Freestyle in 47.69.
Sophomore Thomas Fenton (Lynchburg, Va. / Virginia Episcopal School) dominated the breaststroke events, winning both the 100-Yard Breast (59.70) and 200-Yard Breast (2:11.91). Wareham finished second in each of those races, swimming the 100-Breast in 1:00.18 and the 200-Breast in 2:13.65.
First-year Nicholas Bai (San Diego, Calif. / Scripps Ranch High School) had himself a day, winning the 200-Yard Backstroke (2:00.89) and the 100-Yard Butterfly (52.95). Senior Pierre Zeineddin (Gaithersburg, Md. / Richard Montgomery) won the 200-Yard Butterfly in 1:56.42. Senior Siddhartha Ojha (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) finished second in that race with a time of 2:02.91.
Sophomore Anthony Wang (San Jose, Calif. / Evergreen Valley) swept the diving events with a score of 230.80 in the 3-meter and 179.20 in the 1-meter.
Caltech returns home to host Whittier and Fresno Pacific at the Braun Pools Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10:30 a.m.
