PASADENA, Calif. – Caltech Women's Tennis, currently ranked No. 29 in NCAA Division III, faced its toughest match of the season so far, hosting the No. 17 Babson College Beavers on Saturday morning.
Highlighting the day was first-year
Carissa Gerung (
Portland, Ore. /
Jesuit), who extended her unbeaten streak in singles to six matches in a 7-5, 6-4 nailbiter in #5 singles, denying Babson the sweep. Gerung is now 4-0 in the fifth position and still 2-0 in fourth singles this year.
Senior
Payal Patel (Cumming, Ga. / South Forsyth) also picked up a set against her opponent on Court 3, falling just short in the 10-point tiebreaker after her rival picked up the second set.
