PASADENA, Calif — A valiant effort by Caltech women's water polo fell short Wednesday, April 2nd as the Beavers fell to the Whittier Poets, 12-8.
First-year attacker Yolotzin Subdias (Los Angeles / Eagle Rock High School) led the Beavers on offense, notching her third hat trick of the season. Subdias provided the highlight of the night with a double-spin move backhand goal in the third quarter, drawing the keeper out of the net.
The Beavers held the Poets to just a one-goal advantage at halftime, helped in part by strong all-around play from junior utility Maya Dickson (Atlanta, Ga. / North Atlanta High School). She contributed with three steals on the back end and chipped in offensively with two goals and an assist. With the Beavers trailing 3-0 in the first quarter, she factored in the next two goals of the match, bringing the contest back within reach.
First year attacker Madha Ravi (Saratoga, CA / Saratoga High School) achieved a personal milestone, tallying her first collegiate goal of her career.
Caltech will look to bounce back in their next match when they travel to Pomona to take on top-ranked Pomona Pitzer Wednesday, April 9.
