Caltech Baseball Breaks Program Record in Season Finale

PASADENA, Calif. – Caltech finished its regular season with a three-game series against Chapman last weekend, ending the 2025 campaign with the lowest ERA in program history.

In the series opener against Chapman May 2, first-year RHP Varun Gabbita (Maniplan, Fla. / High Technology), impressed with five innings of 1-run ball. First-year Kenji Farrell (Novi, Mich. / Detroit County Day School), Did not allow a run in his 1.2 innings of work during the closing game of the series at Caltech, May 3.

Offensively, senior Jack Fishel (Baltimore, Md. / Boys' Latin School of Maryland), maintained his recent strong play going against Chapman. He went 4-10 including an RBI double in the series. Fishel paced the Beavers this season with a .377 batting average.

This is the second-consecutive season that the Beavers have lowered their all-time best ERA. The team pitched to a 7.67 ERA in 2024 before bettering that mark with a 7.21 ERA in 2025. With 10 regular-season wins this year, the Beavers also tied last year's squad for the most wins in a single season in Caltech Baseball program history.

Sophomore Brendan Flaherty (Narragansett, R.I. / Lake Forest Academy), led the way for Caltech baseball on the mound this season, with a 4.61 ERA in a team-leading 88 innings pitched.
