SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Caltech Volleyball had an exciting second weekend to its season with a double header at Life Pacific University, walking away with a win against Westcliff University and solid performances across the board.
"I am proud of the effort put forth by our team and the mental toughness displayed as we played through some fatigue," Head Coach
Tom Gardner said. "We are improving with each contact and we feel really good about our results on Saturday."
The Beavers started their day with a match against Westcliff. With a 25-20 first set loss against Westcliff, the Beavers went on to win the next 3 sets, ending with a hairpin 26-24 victory.
In their opening match, junior
Alize Bakker and sophomore
Noelle Wilkinson scored 15 points each, with Bakker managing 31 digs, leading both teams. First year
Rena Zhang achieved her first double-double of the season with a total of 10 kills and 11 digs.
In the third set, the team reached an impressive hit percentage of .414. This is the second win for the women's volleyball team in their season so far.
Caltech Volleyball finished its day against Life Pacific University. In an impressive second set, the team made a .351 kill percentage, winning the set 25-18.
Notably,
Alize Bakker scored a team high of 19 kills,
Emma Berg executed 20 assists, and
Giulia Murgia hit 19 digs. Additionally,
Emma Berg scored 5 aces, with the team scoring 11 aces in total, leading total match aces.
The Beavers will hit the road next week for a pair of doubleheaders hosted by Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
