Caltech Men's Basketball demonstrated a balanced offense in a contest against Redlands at Braun Gymnasium in Pasadena Wednesday night.
The Beaver offense hit its stride as the game progressed, scoring 52 second-half points. Sophomore Josh Balami (Woodbury, Minn. / Math and Science Academy) went off for 15 second-half points as part of his game-high 23 points on the night. The mark was one short of a career high.
Balami, who also led all players with 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, created shots for himself with dynamic drives to the rim, earning him several trips to the charity stripe. He used the extra defensive attention he earned to create opportunities for his teammates, dishing out a career-high eight assists on the evening. As a team, the Beavers compiled 21 assists on their 29 made field goals.
First-year Dorian Glogovac (Vancouver, B.C. / St. George's School Vancouver) proved himself tough to defend, earning seven free throws and converting all of them. He had 17 points on the evening along with five assists.
The Beavers had a good night at the rim, outscoring Redlands 48-46 in the paint while drawing 20 fouls and committing only nine. The Institute shot 46% from the field overall on Wednesday.
Caltech stays at home to host Occidental Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2:00 p.m.
