LA VERNE, Calif. – Caltech Men's Water Polo traveled to La Verne Wednesday night for a SCIAC matchup against the Leopards at Las Flores Pool on the campus of the University of La Verne
The Beavers opened the scoring on a tally by Junior Carl Crum (San Carlos, Calif. / Sacred Heart Preparatory) less than two minutes into the game. The assist came from senior Justin Hong (Pasadena, Calif. / Pasadena). Freshman Alexander Alexandrov (Atlanta, Ga. / Chamblee) followed later in the quarter, assisted by Crum. Freshman Patrick Feng (Redmond, Wash. / Interlake) got Caltech on the board in the third quarter, and Alexandrov added a pair of power-play goals of his own in the same quarter, the second assisted by Crum. Crum closed out Caltech's scoring with a power-play goal in the fourth quarter, assisted by senior Joshua Braun (Bakersfield, Calif. / Garces Memorial).
Alexandrov led the Beavers with a hat trick, his eighth of the season. Crum paced the offense in points with two goals and two assists. Defensively, senior Axel Haydt (Austin, Texas / Westlake) led the way for The Institute with two steals.
Senior Shuhul Mujoo (San Jose, Calif. / Evergreen Valley) played the first three quarters in net, making 3 saves. Freshman Tim Zhang (Brea, Calif. / Troy High School) took over in the fourth quarter, finishing with 2 saves.
