Three Caltech Men's Basketball student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team.
Sophomore Stuart Florescu (Toronto, Ontario / Crescent School), junior Andrew Koclanes (Denver, Colo. / Colorado Academy) and sophomore Chase Williamson (McDonough, Ga. / Union Grove), each received the honor. The men qualified for the accolade by achieving at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while also participating in at least 90 percent of the team's total games or starting in 66 percent of those contests.
Florescu played in 23 games this season, starting in 19 of them. Throughout his career, he has played 1,278 minutes, averaged 5.4 rebounds a game and averaged 10.2 points a game. Off the court, Florescu is majoring in Applied and Computational Mathematics. He has worked in the University of Toronto's Matter Lab on research closely aligned with NVIDIA's quantum computing efforts.
Throughout his career, Koclanes has played in 74 games, starting in 10 of them, played 1,342 minutes, averaged 2.4 rebounds a game and averaged 3.5 points a game. Off the court, Koclanes is majoring in Information and Data Science. He interned with P3 Peak Performance project to help advance sports performance and injury prevention using biomechanics and data science. Koclanes also completed SURF research studying topics at the intersection of data science and biomechanics.
Williamson has played in 45 games, starting in 43 of them while playing 1,303 minutes and averaging 4.6 rebounds and 11.1 points a game throughout his career. Williamson was involved in Caltech FSRI research focused on improving the efficiency and accuracy of mapping surface fractures in geologic fault zones.
