The 2025-26 Academic All-District honors have been released by College Sports Communicators (CSC) and two members of the Caltech women's basketball team have achieved the prestigious recognition.
Sophomore Zeynep Goktepe (Istanbul, Turkey / The MacDuffie School) and sophomore Carolyn Ruan (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) received the honor. They qualified for the accolade by achieving at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while also participating in at least 90 percent of the team's total games or starting in 66 percent of those contests.
Throughout her career, Goktepe (Istanbul, Turkey / The MacDuffie School) has played in 44 games, starting in 35 of them. She has played 1,412 minutes while averaging 3.8 rebounds and 11.6 points a game. Off the court, Goktepe is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Business and Economics and Management.
Ruan (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) has played in 42 games, starting in 28 of them, played 1,138 minutes, averaged 1.8 rebounds a game and averaged 5 points a game throughout her career. Prior to Caltech she was a National Merit Finalist, a Presidential Scholar Candidate and an AP Scholar with Distinction.
