PASADENA, Calif. – The Caltech women's tennis team cruised to its seventh win of the season Thursday evening, making quick work of the Whittier College Poets to improve its SCIAC record to 3-2.
The Beavers were flawless in Doubles as the duo of sophomore
Aoi Kunimoto (San Diego / Rancho Bernardo) and senior
Anna Szczuka (Scotch Plains, NJ / Scotch Plains-Fanwood) posted a 6-0 set win for their team-leading seventh doubles victory. The top pairing of sophomore
Carissa Gerung (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit) and junior
Hannah Ramsperger (Zürich, Switzerland / Realgymnasium Rämibühl Zürich) followed up with a matching 6-0 set to wrap up the session.
Szczuka was up 3-0 when her #2 singles opponent retired for an injury, and Kunimoto clinched the dual for Caltech with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at #5. Ramsperger and Gerung each followed with matching 6-0, 6-0 triumphs, and sophomore
Polaris Hayes (Robbinsville, N.J. / The Pennington School) posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #4.
