SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Caltech men's and women's cross country teams took part in the CSUSB Coyote Challenge, achieving promising results in their first meet of the season.

The women's team finished 10th in the 6K with an average time of 23:56, ahead of SCIAC rival University of La Verne and D-II Cal State Los Angeles. Junior Katelyn Sadorf (Boca Raton, Fla. / Spanish River) finished first for the Beavers at 86th out of 183 total runners, 53rd among team scorers, with a time of 23:39. Freshman Lyra Stiglitz came in just behind Sadorf, finishing her first meet with the Beavers with a time of 23:44.8.

Rachel Rakower and Pragya Modgil also completed their first meet with the Beavers, along with Stiglitz.

Rounding out the Beavers points finishers were Rakower in 94th with her 23:52.7 finishing time, Modgil in 100th finishing at 24:06.0, Hypatia Hamkins (New York, N.Y. / The Brearley School) finishing with 24:18.3 for 104th place, Raquel Lample ( Encino, Calif. / Notre Dame High School) in 116th with a time of 24:38.0 and Zoe Chou (Chesterfield, N.J. Northern Burlington County Regional High School) in 120th with her time of 24:43.6. Hamkins and Chou both finished with personal best times in the 6K event.

Caltech's men's team finished 11th in the 8K with an average time of 27:42, ahead of new SCIAC competitor Azusa Pacific. Stephen Goehringer (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley) led the Beavers in 74th with a time of 27:25.7. Jonah Reynolds finished his first meet for Caltech in 96th, with a 28:26.8 finishing time.

Colin La ( Potomac, Md. / Winston Churchill) at 27:34.5, Ezra Caspary (Portland, Ore. / Roosevelt High School) at 27:45.3, Aditya Pakal (The Woodlands, Texas / The John Cooper School) at 27:47.4, Aiden Cope (Mapleton, Utah / Maple Mountain High School) at 28:01.5, Reynolds and Jack Sullivan (Bethesda, Md. / Georgetown Preparatory) at 30:40.3 rounded out the points finishers for the Beavers.
