2013-14: Appeared in all 25 games, starting 22…Led the team with 3.5 assists per game...Ranked second with 1.1 steals per game...Filled out his all-around line with 7.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game...Ranked third in SCIAC play and led all freshmen in minutes on the court...Was fifth in assists (56)...Placed 13th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6)...His 18 steals ranked 15th...Notched career highs with 18 points and a trio of three-pointers vs. CMS (2/12/14)…Dished out a career-high eight assists in both outings vs. Pomona-Pitzer (12/7/13, 1/22/14)…Made a career-high four steals vs. Cal Lutheran (1/11/14)…Had a career-high six rebounds vs. Linfield (11/23/13) and Occidental (2/1/14)…Scored 13 points, dished out three assists and nabbed two steals, including the eventual game-winning field goal, in his first career game, vs. Willamette (11/15/13)...Scored 15 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists in the OT win vs UCSC (12/14/13).

Was a National Honor Society Inductee as well as a National Hispanic Scholar…Was a three-time captain of the varsity basketball team as Pacific Ridge School…Led the Social Change Clubs…In basketball he was a MaxPreps Top100 2013 Recruiting Honor Roll member…Was three time all-conference…Was three-time team MVP…was two-time league scoring champ…three-time league assist leader…His senior year Luke averaged 21 points, 5.7 assists and more than five rebounds a game…He was also his schools first 1,000 point scorer…He also played for Gamepoint and High Five America when he wasn’t in school (both based in San Diego)…Lists his most exciting research project as when he did Electrophotochemical Research for nanowire Solar Cell Technology at JCAP on the campus of Caltech

Personal:

Came to Caltech to get a better understanding of how to take a quantitative approach to Economics and Finance, and hopes to be a Financial Mathematician once he graduates…He enjoys listening to solo piano music in his spare time…Lists his best athletic achievement as an NBPA top 100 Camp Invitee and the fact that he was both the captain in the starting point guard in the championship game…He says there is “no greater ecstasy than the fruition of hard work”…His parents are Steve and Marla…He lists his favorite sports team as the Caltech Beavers!!!
