Spencer Schneider '22 joins the Beavers' staff after an illustrious career as a Caltech scholar-athlete. Schneider is tasked with managing scouting and analytics. The Houston, Texas native was a four-year starting forward and accumulated more than 1000 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 assists. The 2022 SCIAC Ted Ducey award winner and Caltech Sportsperson of the Year, Schneider led the program to its first winning conference season since 1954 and the most NCAA wins in history.
In 2018, Schneider teamed up with Caltech professor and team liasion Michael Alvarez during a summer research fellowship where he helped develop a tool to monitor registered voter databases. The work was later published. In 2019, Schneider completed a software engineering internship at Pasadena startup BallerTV. In 2020, he interned at Blackrock where he built software for portfolio managers. During the 2020-21 season, Schneider worked for the Washington Wizards under Caltech alum and NBA assistant coach Dean Oliver as a software engineer where he built internal software tools to aid data analytics. Currently, Schneider is working at Meta as a software engineer.
