Research and STEM Activities
Created AI programs that take X-Ray image inputs to detect elbow fractures and differentiate the three classifications: Distal Humerus, Radial Head, and Olecranon; inspiration for project came from father’s elbow fracture that went unidentified by his doctor following X-Ray imaging; research shows that approximately 20 percent of bone fractures present in X-Ray images go unidentified due to human error, which serves a problem as untreated bone fractures may lead to permanent nerve damage or bone deformities; the AI she created decreases the aforementioned 20 percent error.
