Benay Weintraub was the Head Coach for Caltech Women's Tennis from 2022-2024.

In her first year at the helm, Weintraub led the program to new heights. After bringing in a 2023 recruiting class ranked 15th in Division III by TennisRecruiting.net, the team upset nationally ranked opponents, earning the program’s highest national ranking of 16. Ten student-athletes were named ITA Division III Scholar-Athletes and the team was named an ITA Division III All-Academic Team. Four student-athletes were recognized by the College Sports Communicators as members of the Academic All-District Team. Senior Nina Solovyeva earned the SCIAC Character Award, while Solovyeva and sophomore Yoyo Benchetrit were named Second Team All-SCIAC.

Weintraub comes to Pasadena from Irvine, California where she was the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at the University of California, Irvine. As an Anteater, she lead her team through positive coaching, which guided them to overall success on and off the court. Following this position Weintraub was appointed as Engagement Coordinator for USTA Southern California. With the USTA SoCal, Benay built relationships between all members of the tennis community, communicated with sponsors/partners and organized the first Women Who Ace Conference and Achievement Award Ceremony. The mission of the event is to celebrate, inspire and empower women to continuing advancing in sport.

Prior to her return to the West Coast, Weintraub was the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Amherst College in Massachusetts. At Amherst, Weintraub assisted in the recruiting the 4th ranked recruiting class of 2020 and the 18th ranked recruiting class of 2019 announced by TennisRecruiting.net. During the 2018-2019 season, Weintraub coached her team to the NCAA Elite 8 and a singles player to NCAA semi-finals in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As a Teaching Fellow, Weintraub simultaneously earned her Master’s Degree from Smith College in Exercise and Sport Studies.

Before joining Amherst College, Weintraub was the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at both Rhodes College and Millsaps College where she was also served as the Recruiting and Social Media Coordinator. At Millsaps she played a key role in securing the Majors’ Class of 2017, which was recognized as the 23rd ranked women’s recruiting class by TennisRecruiting.net. In 2017, the men’s tennis team were SAA Conference Finalists. Weintraub has experience at the NCAA Division II level having served as the Compliance Coordinator and Assistant Tennis Coach at Western New Mexico University.

At each stop, Weintraub has coached her players to NCAA regional and national rankings. She has supported her student-athletes in their accomplishment of being named All-Americans and ITA Scholar Student-Athletes and has been involved in practice planning, on-court match coaching, team fundraising, court maintenance and all aspects of the tennis program. She served on multiple institutional leadership committees and has been a SAAC Advisor.

Weintraub is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences from Whittier College in 2015. At Whittier College, Weintraub was a four-year member of the tennis team, earned the title of ITA Scholar-Athlete, was a member of SAAC and was appointed by Whittier’s President to serve on the college’s Title IX Committee. Since 2011, Weintraub has been certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) as a teaching professional. Weintraub is a 2023 Class 6 graduate of WeCoach 2.0, 2017 Class 43 graduate of WeCoach, the WeCoach Mentorship Program, and is an active member of the organization.
