THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Caltech men's water polo team
lost two games on Saturday at the Samuelson Aquatic Center. In a
SCIAC match-up against Cal Lutheran the Beavers dropped a 22-3
decision before falling to Mercyhurst 14-6 in a non-conference
neutral site contest.
During the first game
against Cal Lutheran the hosts jumped out to a 10-2 lead on the
strength of eight different players scoring a goal in the first
eight minutes. Caltech was able to hold the Knights scoreless for
more than a period after that but couldn't get any closer than
10-3. Jack
Blackwood scored all three goals for the Beavers.
In the nightcap against Mercyhurst the story was very similar as
the Lakers scored 11 of the game's first 13 goals. Thomas Kwong
scored five of the six goals score by the Beavers while Blackwood
notched a goal as well for Caltech.
