PASADENA, Calif. – On an overcast and rainy Sunday
afternoon the Chapman men's water polo squad used 16 first
half goals to propel them past Caltech 25-5 in a non-conference
match-up at the Braun Pool.
Chapman (10-10) spread the wealth around as 12 different players
posted goals in the win. Brad Aills led the scoring drive for the
Panthers notching a team high three goals. Six other Chapman
players posted two goals.
The Panthers raced out to a 4-0 lead just past the midway point
of the first period. Caltech (0-14) put their first goal on the
board when Adam Kahn found the back of the net with 3:25 left in
the period. However, Chapman scored the final two goals of the
period in taking a 6-1 lead.
Pierre Masson scored back-to-back goals to open the scoring in
the second period and Chapman road that momentum in taking a 16-2
halftime lead. Chapman's lead rose to 21-2 late in the third
quarter before Caltech scored their final three goals.
Kahn posted two second half goals to tally a hat trick on the
afternoon but it wasn't enough for the home squad. In
addition to Kahn's scoring efforts, Jack Blackwood and Josh
Hardenbrook also scored goals for the Beavers.
