The Caltech men's water polo squad began a tough slate of games in 2011 at the Inland Empire Classic. The Beavers faced four teams ranked in the top eight in the recent national polls.

University of Redlands 24, Caltech 5
The University of Redlands, currently ranked co-number one in the nation, scored 14 goals by halftime and never looked back in the victory.
Jack Blackwood played a part in three of Caltech's goals. The junior scored one and assisted on two. He also tallied a team high six shots while drawing five exclusions during the contest.
Benjamin Grabowski made four saves in his collegiate debut.

Whitter 21, Caltech 5
The Poets broke open a tight contest with a strong second period. With the score knotted at 2-2, Whittier scored six of the eight goals in the second frame in taking a 8-4 edge at halftime. Whittier continued their strong offensive showing by scoring 13 goals in the final two periods en route to the win.
Whittier entered the game ranked sixth in the nation.

Sunday, Sept. 11
Chapman 29, Caltech 6
Daniel Sexton tallied the first hat trick of the season for the Beavers with a three goal effort. However, the Panther showed why they are the eighth ranked team in the nation by scoring at least five goals in each period.
Chapman spread around their offense as 15 different players found the back of the net in the win.

The Beavers played the nation's other co-number one team to end the two-day event. After the squads split the opening two goals, the Stags scored six unanswered goals to take control the contest.
Grabkowski made had a nice game in goal to close out the weekend by blocking eight shots.
