MIT Holds Down Caltech

PASADENA, Calif. -- In a match-up of two of the most prestigious institutes in the country, the MIT men's water polo team recorded a 22-5 victory over Caltech on Friday afternoon at the Braun Pool.

MIT jumped out to a 6-0 lead late in the first period before Jack Blackwood broke Caltech's scoring drought with 48 seconds left in the period. The visitors added one more goal before period's final buzzer in taking a 7-1 lead after the opening eight minutes.

In the second period MIT kept a steady handle on the game as the outscored Caltech 4-3 during the stanza. Dylan Hallman posted a hat trick in the period to aid MIT's scoring output as they took an 11-3 lead at halftime.

The visitors put any hopes of a Caltech comeback away in the third period by posting a 9-1 scoring advantage in the frame. MIT ended the contest by scoring two of the three goals scored in the final period.

MIT's Kyle Bowman led all scorers with four goals, including a third period hat trick. Scott Stephens also posted a hat trick for MIT.

Adam Khan continued to lead the Caltech scoring attack as they senior recorded two goals on the afternoon. Khan has scored a team high 10 goals this year.
