PASADENA, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2021) – Caltech's 2021 SCIAC campaign continued Wednesday night at home against a strong opponent in the University of Redlands Bulldogs.

Freshman Sean Zheng (San Marino, Calif. / Polytechnic School) won the opening sprint and picked up an assist just seconds later as the Beavers netted the first goal of the game. Zheng would later score a goal of his own in the third quarter and finished the game with two more assists and a pair of steals.

It was junior Matthew Hajjar (San Jose, Calif. / The Harker School) who scored the first goal of the game off Zheng's pass. Hajjar netted again in the third quarter and finished as the only Beaver with two goals on the night. Junior Max Bricken (Portland, Ore. / Westview) also highlighted with a goal, two assists, two steals and three drawn exclusions.

Starting in goal was junior Wei Foo (Hacienda Heights, Calif. / Troy), who made 12 saves – many of an impressive variety – in three quarters. He then played the field for the fourth quarter and finished with two steals.

Despite the final score, Caltech played a more than respectable first half, holding the Bulldogs to only six goals, including a two-goal second quarter. The Beavers showed plenty of fight to open the third quarter as well, pulling back from a four-goal deficit to within one at 6-5 before Redlands' far deeper roster overwhelmed the eight-man Beavers physically.

Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will head down to Orange County for a Saturday morning game against Chapman University.
