Box Score

LA VERNE, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2021) – Caltech scored in the double digits against a SCIAC opponent for the first time this season, netting 10 goals on the road against the University of La Verne Leopards.

The beginning of the game was a ping pong match as the Beavers answered La Verne's opening goals for 1-1 and 2-2 tie scores. Caltech then briefly had a 3-2 lead before having to fight its way back to a 4-4 tie, after which ULV surged ahead. Junior Matthew Hajjar (San Jose, Calif. / The Harker School) exploded on offense in the hole set, netting eight goals on 11 shots, including both of the Beavers' powerplay goals.

Caltech surged out of halftime to outscore the Leopards 3-2 in the third quarter, with junior Max Bricken (Portland, Ore. / Westview) opening up the scoring just over a minute into the period. Sophomore Perry Samimy (Miami, Fla. / Ransom Everglades) tallied the last goal for Caltech after earning an assist earlier in the game. Junior Juan Arvelo (Miami, Fla. / Riviera Prep) paced the Beavers in drawing a pair of exclusions as well.

Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers return home Saturday, Oct. 23 for a 7:00 p.m. game against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
