Men's Basketball Opens 2023 on the Road at Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. (Jan. 4, 2023) – Caltech Men's Basketball took to the road Wednesday night to face the University of Redlands Bulldogs.

Early turnovers proved costly as the host Bulldogs were quick to capitalize on the gained possessions, but some halftime adjustments helped the Beavers hold pace in the second half against a strong opposition.

Senior Chase Pagon (Solana Beach, Calif. / Santa Fe Christian) again led the Beavers in the points column with 18, additionally collecting eight rebounds and tying classmate Ben Juarez (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Oak Ridge) by dishing out three assists in the contest.

Pavlos Stavrinides (Nicosia, Cyprus / The English School of Nicosia) racked up 13 points including a trio of second half dunks, along with a team-high nine boards. Kyle McGraw (Los Altos Hills, Calif. / The Nueva School) also scored in double figures, splashing a team-high three three-pointers among his 11-point contribution.

Sophomore Riley Wood (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's School) also returned to the lineup and tallied six points and seven rebounds.

Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger and the Beavers will next face the California Lutheran University Kingsmen on Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
