WHITTIER, Calif. – The Beavers kicked off against SCIAC foe Whittier College Saturday evening for the second match between the two teams this season.
Much like their previous meeting, the Poets attacked constantly and efficiently, but Caltech held the hosts to fewer shots on goal and in total. The Beavers' defensive play along with four saves by goalkeeper
Sophia Steven held Whittier scoreless in the first half.
Jennifer Solgaard led the Caltech offense with a pair of shot attempts, one forcing a save by the Poet keeper and her second missing wide in the 89th minute.
Juni Polansky also had an attempt at goal late in the second half, just missing the frame. Steven made two more saves after halftime for a game total of six.
Head Coach
Emmy Meyring and the Beavers will play the remainder of the 2023 regular season at home, playing the first of those three matches on Wednesday, Oct. 18 against the University of Redlands at 4 p.m.
