ANAHEIM, Calif. – Caltech Women's Basketball returned to action Tuesday evening after a grueling week of studying and final exams, taking on the Bethesda University Flames and coasting to a 74-57 victory.
Senior Claire Perhach (Carlsbad, Calif. / Sage Creek) put Caltech on the scoreboard with a pair of early free throws. She dominated the game in ball control with game highs of 10 rebounds including six on offense, and five steals. She contributed a couple more field goals along with a block and an assist.
Junior Kathryn Edwards (Centennial, Colo. / Arapahoe) led both teams in scoring, racking up 23 points including 10-for-12 field goal shooting.
Caltech's reserves outscored the Bethesda bench 27-9 in the contest, led by junior Maria Vazhaeparambil (Saratoga, Calif. / The Harker School) with a career-high 12 points including a trio of three-poiniters in her 23 minutes on the floor.
Junior guard Kodie Vondra (Livingston, Mont. / Park) was the third Caltech player scoring double figures, dropping 10 points and dishing out four assists, tying senior Milan Robinson (Anaheim, Calif. / Fairmont Prep) for the team high for the night. Every Caltech player in the game wound up in the scoring column.
