CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Caltech women's tennis team, currently ranked 16th in the nation, headed east to face No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Tuesday night for the team's first match against a SCIAC opponent this season. The last time the two programs met was in last year's conference semifinal on the same courts.
The host Sagehens were unrelenting against the visiting Beavers, quickly surging ahead in the doubles session against some reconfigured pairings on the Caltech side. Senior
Nina Solovyeva and junior
Teresa Huang fared the best of the three Beaver partnerships, claiming three games against their rivals on Court Three.
First-year Anna Sczcuka fought hard through her #6 Singles matchup, claiming three games in her first set and four in the second.
Sophomore
Anika Arora claimed a 6-2 win in her first set against regional No. 12 Nina Yee in #2 Singles.
Head Coach
Benay Weintraub and the Beavers return to their home courts on Saturday, Apr. 1 at 10 a.m. to face Whittier College.
