PASADENA, Calif. – Caltech Women's Soccer came back to the North Field after a week off to face the Texas Lutheran University on Friday evening.
Once again it was
Jennifer Solgaard who put the Beavers on the board, marking her fourth consecutive regular season match with a goal scored, dating back to the end of the 2022 campaign. The play developed in just the 10th minute as
Marie Choi-Schatelle created a turnover around midfield and then
Kathryn Thompson played a brilliant ball into open space as Solgaard, timing her run perfectly, raced past her defender as TLU's keeper desperately ran ahead to cut off the attack. Jennifer calmly dribbled to her left and shot to her right before being mobbed by her teammates.
It was largely a defensive affair as the two teams only earned one corner kick each in the entire match, and the Beaver goalkeepers turned away a total of seven Bulldog shots, including a game-high five saves by second half keeper
Sophia Steven after a solid start by
Haleigh Gardner.
Solgaard now has 10 career goals for Caltech after a record-setting 7-goal season last year, including the program's first-ever game winner in SCIAC play, as well as a late equalizer to tie La Verne and finsh above them in the 2022 final standings.
Head Coach Emmy Meyring and the Beavers will return Sunday morning to host Lewis & Clark College at 11 a.m. Follow along with video and live stats at
