Edwards Breaks 1000 Career Points as Women's Basketball Tests La Verne

PASADENA, Calif. – In just her third season, junior Kathryn Edwards (Centennial, Colo. / Arapahoe) passed the 1000 career points milestone Wednesday night as the Beavers dueled the University of La Verne.

Edwards becomes the seventh player in Caltech Women's Basketball history to hit the 1000-point milestone, beating the mark in the second half of a SCIAC matchup in which she swiped a career-high seven steals from the visiting Leopards along with a team high of eight boards, with pairs of assists and blocks to accompany her historic 12-point outing.

Caltech held the edge in the first three quarters of the game, eventually building up a 10-point lead with five and a half minutes remaining in the third. Leading the Beavers in scoring was junior Kodie Vondra (Livingston, Mont. / Park), netting 15 points along with three boards and an assist without committing any personal fouls.

Senior Hope Arnett (Torrance, Calif. / Chadwick School) followed edwards with six steals and six rebounds, also contributing nine points and an assist without giving up a single turnover.

And fellow senior Claire Perhach (Carlsbad, Calif. / Sage Creek) made her fifth start of the season and shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field for eight points, just one shy of her season high set during the season opener at D-I Pepperdine University.

Head Coach Annie Tarakchian and the Beavers will play host to the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday afternoon, with tip-off slated for 4 p.m. Follow live at https://gocaltech.com/coverage.
