SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The Caltech men's basketball team wrapped up its two-game road trip Saturday against George Fox University at West Field House, in a neutral-site game hosted by UC Santa Cruz.
Caltech's second game in less than 24 hours saw eight Beavers contribute in the points column, with junior guard
Noah Hicks (Oxford, Ga. / George Walton Academy) leading both teams in the category with a career-high 32, including back-to-back buckets to give Caltech a brief early lead. The standout went 10-for-16 from the field and went 2-for-6 from deep; he led the game with 10 free throws made and further contributed two assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Rookie center
Stuart Florescu (Toronto / Crescent School) followed Hicks in scoring with 11 in his 26 minutes off the bench on 4-of-7 shooting from the field and a 2-for-3 showing from the charity stripe. The first-year also grabbed five rebounds and a steal and dished out one assist.
Senior forward
Riley Wood (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's School) was the game's top rebounder with 13, more than doubling the next-highest individual rebounder on either team. Six of the senior's boards came on the offensive glass, the first of which preceded a tip-in for the Beavers' first two points. Wood went 4-for-5 from the field and added a pair of good free throws to end the game with 10 points.
Sophomore wing-forward
Ryan Hu (Bellevue, Wash. / Newport) scored eight points after draining a 2-pointer and splashing a pair of threes; he ended the contest with two assists, a block and a rebound to go with no turnovers in 27 minutes.
The Beavers scored 10 second-chance points and 10 points off opponent turnovers.
