LOS ANGELES – Caltech Men's Basketball faced local rival Occidental College in the annual 110 Rivalry Game, the first of three meetings between the two programs in the 2024-25 season.
The host Tigers started aggressively and dominated the paint, but despite the final score, the Beavers out-performed Occidental in points off turnovers, converting those opportunities into 16 points compared to Oxy's 13.
Junior
Noah Hicks (Oxford, Ga. / George Walton Academy) opened up the scoring for Caltech with a three-pointer, and he ended up with a game-high 21 points, adding four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
First-year
Stuart Florescu (Toronto / Crescent School) followed Hicks with 16 points, nailing six field goals including a three-pointer, shooting three for three from the free throw line and collecting five boards.
Classmate
Chase Williamson (McDonough, Ga. / Union Grove) hit a game-high seven free throws and led the Beavers in rebounds with six.
On the defensive side, sophomore
Pranit Gunjal (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) led the Beavers in blocks with three, setting a personal best for blocks in a game.
Head Coach
Dr. Oliver Eslinger and the Beavers have a week to regroup before their home opener on Saturday, Nov. 23 against Whitworth University.
