PASADENA, Calif. — Caltech Athletics officially released the 2024 Women's Tennis schedule on Monday.
This year's squad will clash with a number of highly-ranked programs in both nonconference and conference play as they look top their
noteworthy 2023 campaign. Last year, the Beavers reached a No. 16 national ranking, a No. 5 regional ranking and seven wins over ranked teams en route to a tie for the third-best record in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
The team will take on 11 nonconference opponents before turning towards SCIAC foes. The Caltech women
ranked 21st in the nation among all Div. III programs in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason Team Rankings.
The Beavers open their season on Monday, Feb. 19 as the Institute hosts Brandeis University for a 10 a.m. home showdown. The match will serve as the first of many consecutive home contests for the Beavers, who will host a number of high-level nonconference and SCIAC opponents. One of those contests will see the squad face off against Vassar College on Tuesday, Mar. 5 at 3 p.m.; in 2023, Caltech
topped the nationally-ranked Brewers in a thrilling 5-4 clash.
The program will also host rematches against the University of Mary Washington (Thursday, Mar. 7 at 3 p.m.) and Washington University in St. Louis (Tuesday, Mar. 12 at 2 p.m.). Last season, the Beavers
trumped the then-14th-ranked Mary Washington squad by a score of 6-3 before
defeating the No.-17 Bears, 5-4.
Caltech begins conference play at home on Saturday, Mar. 30 at 10 a.m. as the Beavers face off against the two-time defending national champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas. The group will then focus on the Poets of Whittier College on Tuesday, April 2 at 4 p.m.;
the Beavers earned a 9-0 sweep in their meeting one year ago.
The group competes in its final regular season home contest on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 3 p.m. as the Beavers take on the Occidental College Tigers after
downing them 8-1 last season. Please join us prior to the contest as the program celebrates its graduating seniors.
