PASADENA, Calif. – The Caltech men's tennis team bounced back on Saturday morning with a commanding 6-3 win over the Whitman College Blues of Walla Walla, Washington.
The Beavers got the edge in the doubles session, with matching 8-4 wins in first doubles by
Kyle McCandless and
Daniel Wen,
and on third doubles by the duo of
Eric He and
Aditya Srinivasan.
After the break, Caltech took a third match point in #3 Singles as
Constantin Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne held on for a 6-2, 7-5 win, with senior
Daniel Wen following on Court 4 with a 6-1, 6-2 rout.
#5 Singles ended up being the clincher for the Beavers as rookie He picked up his second match point of the day, winning 6-1, 6-3.
After a grinder of a first set that required a tiebreak to decide,
Andrew Zabelo surged through his second set in #2 Singles for a 7-6(2), 6-1 match to give the Beavers their sixth match point.
