Women’s Basketball Battles Rival MIT

Caltech Women's Basketball played its first match against MIT under Head Coach Madison Quan Saturday, battling their east-coast rivals in Braun Gymnasium in Pasadena.

Sophomore Kyra Phaychanpheng (Chino Hills, Calif. / Chino Hills) wrote her name all over the stat sheet Saturday, leading the team with 24 points. She was 3-4 from beyond the arc. Phaychanpheng proved to be a problem for the MIT defense, which sent her to the line for eight free-throw attempts, of which she made seven.

Sophomore guard Zeynep Goktepe (Istanbul, Turkey / The MacDuffie School) kept the offense moving with 12 points and four assists. She also created transition opportunities with three steals on the night.

Caltech travels to Thousand Oaks, CA to take on Texas Lutheran Friday, Nov. 16 at 6:00 p.m.
