Caltech Men's Basketball overcame a first-half deficit to defeat The West Coast Baptist Eagles in a 76-74 nailbiter in Lancaster on Thursday.
"We found a way to gut out the win," Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger said. "The players rallied around each other and figured out how to make plays."
Eslinger praised his team for "managing the swings" in a game that featured seven lead changes including five in the final 5:15 of the contest. Senior Noah Hicks (Oxford, Ga. / George Walton Academy) made three go-ahead shots during that span, two of them from beyond the arc as part of his 15 points on the night.
First-year Dorian Glogovac (Vancouver, B.C. / St. George's School Vancouver) led the Beavers with 23 points and 10 rebounds against the Eagles. He and Hicks were both 4-10 from the three-point line. The versatility of Glogovac's game was on full display Wednesday night, as he also proved to be a menace in the paint on both ends of the floor while gathering a game-high three steals defensively.
The Beavers also benefited from notable contributions from their bench. First year Finnegan Fancher (Ventura, Calif. / Ventura High School) led Beaver non-starters with 12 points. Fellow first-year Ryan Rodrigue (San Diego, Calif. / Santa Fe Christian) tallied seven points, six rebounds and two steals in his 23 minutes.
The Beavers won't have to wait long for another go at the Eagles. The two teams face each other in Braun Gymnasium in Pasadena Tuesday Nov. 18 at 7:00 p.m.
