Men's Basketball Ties Home Scoring Record, Eslinger Becomes Winningest Caltech Head Coach

Caltech Men's Basketball disposed of the West Coast Baptist Eagles 117-71 at Braun Gymnasium in Pasadena Tuesday, sweeping the home-and-home set between the two schools.

The win follows up on a 76-74 victory over the Eagles in Lancaster on Nov. 13.

Caltech spread the Eagles defense around the perimeter Tuesday. The team's 11 three-pointers were split amongst eight different players. First-year Dorian Glogovac (Vancouver, B.C. / St. George's School Vancouver) led the club with three made buckets from beyond the arc. Glogovac was one assist and one rebound shy of a triple-double and he led the team in both those categories.

The Beavers' balanced three-point attack was reflected from the field as well. While the team scored 117 points, no one player had more than 18 and five players had at least 12. Every scorer for the Beavers – all 10 of them – had at least six points on the night. Sophomore Stuart Florescu (Toronto, Ontario / Crescent School) and first-year Ido Geffen (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland High School) paced the club with 18 points against the Eagles. 10 players each had at least one assist in the effort.

Defensively, the Beavers dominated the turnover battle, collecting 14 steals as compared to the Eagles' eight. The defensive effort from the Eslinger-led squad was a collective one, with seven different Beavers recording at least one steal.

The victory cemented Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger as the program's all-time total wins leader in his 18th season at the helm, having previously broken Caltech's records for wins against NCAA opponents and SCIAC opponents. Commenting after the game, he credited every team he's coached leading up to this moment, praising their perseverance and grit during tough seasons and finding ways to win.

Caltech continues the homestand against UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m.
