Caltech Men's Basketball showed some promising signs against the La Sierra Golden Eagles at Braun Gymnasium Saturday night.
The Beavers outscored the Golden Eagles 39-33 in the second half. Caltech was six-for-seven from the free-throw line in the half. First-year Dorian Glogovac (Vancouver, B.C. / St. George's School Vancouver) led all players in second-half points with 18.
"We moved the ball well at points and created good looks, Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger said. "I liked how we made a push at the end."
Glogovac's game-high 28 points came on the heels of a 30-point performance against Cal Lutheran Dec. 6. He also led the Beavers in rebounds on Saturday with 10.
Caltech also excelled in transition with 18 fast break points compared to La Sierra's 12. The Institute also scored 18 points off turnovers, often by jumping passes between the La Sierra guards at the top of the arc. Sophomore Chase Williamson (McDonough, Ga. / Union Grove) led the Beavers with four steals, which was also tied for the most among all players in the game.
"When we stuck to game plan we gave ourselves great opportunities," Eslinger said.
Caltech will hit the road to face Oglethorpe Dec 17 at 6:00 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga.
