Caltech Men's Basketball defeated the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels in a thrilling road matchup in Atlanta, Ga. Wednesday.
"[It] was so great to see us come together," Caltech Head Coach Oliver Eslinger said. "We played as a team on both sides."
The Beavers showed resilience against Oglethorpe, putting themselves in striking distance with a 15-5 scoring run at the tail end of the first half. First-year Dorian Glogovac (Vancouver, B.C. / St. George's School Vancouver) led all scorers with 28 points, 17 of which came in the opening frame.
Caltech carried the momentum through halftime and into the ensuing half. The Beavers took a 41-40 lead on the first made bucket by either side in the second half, a three-pointer from sophomore Chase Williamson (McDonough, Ga. / Union Grove). The Beavers expanded their lead to 58-43 within the first five minutes of the second half.
Williamson had 16 second-half points for a total of 24 in the game. His 10 rebounds were surpassed only by Glogovac's 13 as both players tallied double-doubles.
"[I was] really proud of our bounce back in the first half and then our run to start the second half, and then our poise towards end," Eslinger said. "Really awesome attention and effort from everyone."
Caltech remains in Atlanta to face Piedmont Friday, Dec. 19 at 1:00 p.m.
