PASADENA, Calif. – The Caltech Beavers battled fearlessly against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas at Braun Gymnasium, putting up a solid fights and nearly claiming the third set of the match.
The Beavers and the Athenas stayed head-to-head on each set. Caltech opened up the match with four consecutive points, thanks to the two aces and two kills by first-year
Rena Zhang, who dominated the afternoon with 12 points and 10 kills in total. By the end of the set, the Caltech Beavers rebounded, performing three kills in a row by sophomore
Noelle Wilkinson, junior
Alize Bakker, and sophomore
Stephanie Wallen.
The Beavers led the scoring board on the third set, trading intense blows with the Athenas. With a kill by sophomore
Ailsa Shen, Caltech was able to put the game to only be down by one point. After a tense brawl between the two teams, the CMS Athenas stayed with the victory.

Overall, the Caltech Beavers led the board with assists over CMS. Thanks to sophomore
Alisa Shen, Caltech lead with 24 assists over 15.
The Caltech Volleyball team will play next against California Lutheran University on Tuesday, September 30th in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
