Men's Basketball Duels Pomona-Pitzer in Tight SCIAC Matchup

Caltech Men's Basketball continued its streak of tight games as it hosted Pomona-Pitzer Wednesday night in a back-and-forth affair.

The game saw 14 lead changes, with nine coming in the first half alone and five in the first three minutes. Both teams were within at least 10 of each other throughout the entire contest.

The Beavers put together one of their best shooting performances of the season against the Sagehens. Caltech went 8-for-15 from three-point range in the first half. The Beavers finished shooting 35.7% from beyond the arc, their best performance since Nov. 18 against West Coast Baptist.

The barrage from three allowed the Beavers to go on a 12-0 run, ending in a four-point halftime lead. First-years Dorian Glogovac (Vancouver, B.C. / St. George's School Vancouver) and Finnegan Fancher (Ventura, Calif. / Ventura High School) hit multiple threes in the first frame. Junior Andrew Koclanes (Denver, Colo. / Colorado Academy) also knocked down both of his attempts from the outside.

For the third straight game, Caltech outrebounded its opponent. Sophomore Stuart Florescu (Toronto, Ontario / Crescent) led all players with eight rebounds, his sixth game this season with at least that number. Glogovac and Sophomore Chase Williamson (McDonough, Ga. / Union Grove) pitched in six points each.

After nabbing a career-best 17 points last game against Whittier, first-year Ryan Rodrigue (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif. / Sante Fe Christian) set a new high-mark once again with 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the floor.

Glogovac spearheaded Caltech's offense with 27 points, climbing into the top 10 in points within a season in Beaver's history with 409. Glogovac is just 71 points away from Marcus Gee's record of 480 points in 2019-20.

Caltech clashes with Occidental on Saturday Jan. 31 at 2:00 p.m. in Los Angeles, Calif.
