WHITTIER, Calif. -- The Caltech men's tennis squad dropped a 8-1 decision to No. 27 Whittier in a SCIAC match-up at the Ettinger Tennis Courts.
The Caltech doubles squad fought hard but couldn't pull out a victory as the Poets went into singles play up 3-0
The Beavers proved to be a hand full for the Poets as Julian Seneviratne got pushed at the top spot but was able to pull out the win 6-3, 6-4 over Devashish Joshi.
Alex Runkel continued his strong play of late for the Beavers. The sophomore posted a 6-4 win in the first set then cruised to a 6-0 second set tally at the No. 4 position.
On Saturday morning Caltech continues to play nationally ranked opponents as they host No. 8 Pomona-Pitzer at 10 a.m.
