PASADENA, CA - In a match-up between two regionally ranked SCIAC teams, Whittier came out on top with an 8-1 victory.

Whittier came in as the ITA West Region's fourth ranked team while the Beavers sported a ranking of 13 heading into the match-up. The Poets also came into the day ranked 22nd in the nation.

Chris Schommer and David Konstantinov, the second ranked doubles team in the region, won the top doubles match 8-1. Caltech put up a solid fight in the final two doubles matches but fell in both as the Poets went up 3-0 heading into the singles action.

Whittier won the first two singles matches in straight sets but Caltech's Ruthwick Pathireddy posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 3 slot.

Rushikesh Joshi pushed Shogo Shimizu to three-sets at the No. 4 singles match. However Shimizu pulled out a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 victory. It was a similar results for Morgan Lebby at the No. 5 singles match-up. After falling in the first set Lebby forced a decisive super tiebreaker but Mark Anthony Kenny won 6-2, 3-6, 10-6. Whittier's Tyler Linscott rounded out the singles matched with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 position.
