CLAREMONT, CA – The Beavers fell in their first two matches at the season ending SCIAC Championships on Friday.
Despite the two set-backs, Caltech still have a chance to tie the school record for most team wins in a season when they play Cal Lutheran on Saturday.
Pomona-Pitzer 5, Caltech 0 (Results)
Caltech fell in their opening round contest against the nation's sixth ranked team.
In the match that was played till a team decision, the Sagehens swept the three doubles match then won the No. 4 and No. 6 singles matches to clinch the team match
Whittier 7, Caltech 2 (Results)
The Poets started the match in their favor by claiming two of the three doubles matches.
Caltech claimed an 8-5 win at the No. 3 doubles match as Valerie Pietrasz and Sophia Chen won 8-5.
Whittier won the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches in straight sets. Both Monica Li and Michelle Tang fought until the third set before falling to their foes at the No. 2 and No. 6 singles matches.
Jenny Sheng won her 15th singles match of the season with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the third singles slot for Caltech.
