PASADENA (Feb. 18, 2019) – A shorthanded Caltech women's tennis team picked up one victory but pushed No. 19 Brandeis University in other matches during Monday's home match.
Freshman Jennifer Yu (Queens, N.Y. / Stuyvesant) earned a win for the Beavers at fifth singles, 6-2, 6-2, moving to 2-0 on the year. Senior Kana Moriyama (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) was the next closest Beaver to victory at first singles, trading lopsided sets with Brandeis' top player before coming up short in the super tiebreaker, 10-2.
Head Coach Mandy Gamble and the Beavers will return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 23 when they make their way to the Pacific Northeast for a two-match road trip beginning with No. 27 Whitman College.
