CLAREMONT, Calif. (Apr. 19, 2019) – The Caltech men's tennis team contested the top team in all of Division III on Friday when they traveled to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges for the penultimate SCIAC regular season match of the season.

Sophomore doubles team Varun Shanker (Midland, Mich. / Midland Dow) and James Wei (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) took on the top team from CMS in a rematch of the ITA West Regional Finals in the fall, but came out on the wrong side of 8-4 in what might not be the final meeting between the two teams in 2019. When the action switched to singles, sophomore Kevin Yu (Mason, Ohio / Cincinnati Country Day) put up the biggest fight at third singles, coming up short in his match 6-3, 6-4.

Head Coach Jason Cohen and the Beavers will take on Whittier College in the annual Senior Day match tomorrow at 3 p.m.
