Box Score

PASADENA (Mar. 8, 2020) – The 30th-ranked Caltech women's tennis team took three points off No. 19 Washington University in St. Louis during Sunday's match played in Santa Ana, Calif.

Sophomore Anna Tifrea (Fullerton, Calif. / Troy) won both matches she participated in on Sunday, stretching her personal winning streak to six-consecutive matches. First, the sophomore teamed with junior doubles partner Sarina Liu (Rolling Hills, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula), where the duo pulled out an 8-7 victory and dominated the match-deciding tiebreaker, 7-1. Tifrea later turned around and earned a straight-sets win over the Bears' top singles player, 6-1, 6-4, running her combined record between singles and doubles competition to an outstanding 8-2 on the year. Caltech's final triumph of the day came at second singles, where sophomore Michelle Hyun (Cerritos, Calif. / Gretchen Whitney) rose to the occasion and earned a tight 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory.

Head Coach Mandy Gamble and the Beavers will have another chance to get back in the win column when they take on Vassar College on Tuesday, Mar. 10 at 3 p.m.
