Women's Soccer Faces CLU in Final Road Game

Box Score

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2021) – Caltech wrapped up the road portion of its 2021 schedule Wednesday night at California Lutheran University.

The second-place Regals greeted the Beavers with a barrage of shots on goal, forcing numerous saves from the Caltech goalkeepers, occasionally from one-on-one opportunities. Starter Eve Fine (Locust Valley, N.Y. / Friends Academy) corralled a shot in the second minute and sophomore Megan Robertson (Nashville, Tenn. / Harpeth Hall) entered in the 15th minute, making eight saves over the remainder of the match.

Sophomore Cameron Scantlin (San Diego, Calif. / Valhalla) put the first Caltech shot on net in the 37th minute after the Beavers were able to break through the CLU defense. Unfazed by the halftime score, Caltech came out strong in the second half and created several scoring opportunities. Freshman Shelby Scott (San Jose, Calif. / Leland) let a strong shot fly from the top of the penalty area and fellow freshman Juni Polansky (Baltimore, Md. / Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) fired another one shortly thereafter, making the goalkeeper work to keep it out of the net.

Head Coach Ellery Gould and the Beavers return home for a Saturday morning game on Oct. 23 at 11:00 a.m. against the Whittier College Poets.
