PASADENA, Calif. (Feb. 4, 2022) – Rookie Yochana Benchetrit (Toronto, Canada / St. Clements School) earned her first collegiate dual match win as Caltech women's tennis opened its season against Biola University on Saturday afternoon.

Playing an altered format in which singles were contested before doubles, Benchetrit and classmate Riti Agarwal (Bangalore, India / Inventure Acad.) each won their first set as the Beavers cheered each other on across all eight courts. Benchetrit outlasted her opponent at fifth singles, 7-5 and 6-2, to claim the sole point for Caltech on the day, though Agarwal and the rest of the team battled well as they identify what to work on before heading into the bulk of their schedule.

The Beavers will head to Westmont College in Santa Barbara within just 18 hours ahead of a full two weeks off from competition.
