PASADENA, Calif. (Mar. 21, 2022) – No. 23 Caltech Women's Tennis took on the seventh-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology on a hot Monday afterrnoon, in a battle of the Engineers versus "nature's engineers."

Two Beavers came away with convincing wins in the singles session, each only conceding three sets to their MIT rivals. Freshman Yochana Benchetrit (Toronto, Ont. / St. Clements) cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory on Court Four. She remains undefeated through all eight of her singles appearances with five wins in position five and three wins in position four.

And on Court Six, junior Nina Solovyeva (Houston, Texas / Memorial) picked up a 6-3 win in her first set, followed by a flawless 6-0 second set to seal Caltech's second point of the day. She remains undefeated this season through her five singles appearances in the sixth position.

In other singles matchups, Freshman Riti Agarwal (Bangalore, India / Inventure Academy) rebounded after a 2-6 first set in the third position to win set two by a 7-5 score, and battled through an extended final set before her MIT opponent finished it at 11-9. And senior Michelle Hyun (Cerritos, Calif. / Gretchen Whitney) forced a third set on Court Five with her 6-2 win in her second set.

The Beavers are back in action Tuesday at 2 p.m. as they play host to the Ephs of Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.).
